Combined with her whimsical observations on Japanese culture, the drawings document her year spent living there. Author descriptionAfter graduating from college, writer and illustrator Kate Williamson accepted a postgraduate fellowship that brought her to live for a year in Kyoto, Japan. While there, she documented in words and pictures the extraordinary people, places, and objects she encountered. These enchanting scenes from everyday Japanese life can be found in her first book, "A Year in Japan" (Princeton Architectural Press, 2006). |
