DescriptionHinehauone Coralie Cameron (1904-1993) was a Wairarapa-born artist, whose most outstanding works were wood engravings, woodcuts and linocuts. Her subjects were diverse but included Wairarapa landscapes and farming scenes, Maori people and scenes from Te Ore Ore marae, and Pacific scenes. Author descriptionGail Ross was awarded her PhD from the University of Canterbury in 2007 for a thesis entitled 'New Zealand Prints 1900-1950: An Unseen Heritage'. She has published several articles about NZ printmakers and continues to research the work of these largely undocumented artists. She is also interested in links between the fine and commercial arts and has published essays about artists whose careers spanned both sectors.
