Campbell Smith has enjoyed a lifetime in the arts, as a print maker, wood engraver, poet and playwright. Through his roles as an artist, teacher and director of Hamilton City's Art Gallery, he has helped to shape the cultural identity of New Zealand. In 2003 he was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
