'There was the wind too, that scoured bald hills for answers, finding only insects to shatter against our skin, our crib rocked in the night: the house built on sand. You held the weather in your eyes, dark and writhing when you turned them to the sky, watched clouds smoulder among the stars.'
Charlotte Trevella was born in 1992 and is a pupil at Rangi Ruru Girls' School. She began writing poetry at age seven and had her first poem published in the NZ Listener when she was ten. As well as writing, Charlotte enjoys cross-country running, tramping and drama. She lives in North Canterbury and plans to study medicine at university.
